Remodeling a Kitchen Someone Still Has to Live Next To
Thescientistvideo is a kitchen remodeling contractor in Bellevue, Washington, and the work we are set up for is the kind where the house stays occupied. Somebody is on a laptop at the dining table. A kid naps down the hall in the afternoon. A dog does not appreciate the demolition hammer. We plan a remodel for that house, not for an empty one.
That began as a practical matter. More of the homeowners calling us were working from home, and the usual remodel schedule simply did not fit them. A crew that starts demolition at seven on a Monday, cuts tile on the porch all Tuesday and leaves the water off for an afternoon nobody warned you about can wreck a work week. None of those tasks can be skipped. All of them can be planned.
How We Run a Job
Before we talk about cabinets, we ask how your week works. Which hours need to be quiet, where your desk is, who is home and when. Then we write a phase plan: demolition and rough in grouped into as few days as possible, inspections scheduled as fixed points, quiet trades like cabinet setting and trim placed against your busy blocks. A temporary kitchen goes in before the old one comes out, and it gets tested.
We also say so when a project does not need to be as big as it started. Sound plywood cabinet boxes can often be refaced. A sink that stays where it is saves real money on plumbing. A layout that already works does not need to be moved to justify the job.
The Houses We Work In
Bellevue has a wide spread of housing. Ramblers and split levels from the fifties and sixties in Lake Hills, Crossroads, Newport Hills and Eastgate, often with wiring that needs attention before an induction range goes in. Larger homes from the seventies through the nineties in Somerset, Bridle Trails and Woodridge, where kitchens tend to be bigger but closed off. High rise condos downtown, where the building sets the hours and the freight elevator sets the pace. Each one changes how a phased remodel is sequenced.
